Medical Staff
John Okun, M.D. was born and raised in New York. He attended Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire and was graduated magna cum laude.
He attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He completed five years of training in General and Orthopedic Surgery (at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center).
He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (Board Certified) and has been elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic
Surgeons. Dr. Okun was recertified by the Board in 1996 and 2006.
Dr. Okun specializes in joint replacement surgery, including hip resurfacing, Gender Specific and partial knee replacements, arthroscopic surgery of
the knee, shoulder (rotator cuff repair) and other joints, treatment of complex fractures and orthopedic injuries, as well as most common orthopedic conditions.
He has been in practice in Brandon since 1984 and in Sun City Center since 1992. Dr. Okun is also on staff at Memorial Hospital of Tampa.

Robert Maddalon, MD, MS attended college at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, where he played varsity basketball. He graduated cum laude and later received a Master of Science degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Dr. Maddalon graduated from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
His orthopedic surgery training was performed at the Hospital of the Medical College of Pennsylvania.
Today, Dr. Maddalon specializes in total joint replacement and arthroscopic surgery. He has performed hundreds of minimally invasive (mini-incision) hip and
knee replacements over the past several years. Additionally, he performs partial knee replacement surgery with excellent results.
Also, Dr. Maddalon uses the Zimmer gender-specific knee replacement when indicated and computer-assisted surgery in many patients. He also performs the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing procedure in younger patients.
Dr. Maddalon has performed thousands of knee and shoulder arthroscopies as well as hip and knee replacements in the Brandon and Sun City areas
since he began practicing in 1985. He is board certified and recently served as the Chief of Surgery at Brandon Regional Hospital, where he is now a member of
the Board of Trustees.

Peter Lopez, MD joined Brandon Orthopedic Associates, in 1999. Dr. Lopez is a graduate of The University of Connecticut Medical School. He completed a general surgery
internship at Columbia University and his orthopedic residency (at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center) in New York. He completed a fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center in California. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery
(Board Certified), is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons in addition to Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS ). Dr. Lopez was recertified in 2009.
Dr. Lopez specializes in Hand Surgery as well as general orthopedics. He is an expert in the treatment of complex traumatic and degenerative
upper extremity conditions, and has a particular interest in Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair, and Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release. He is one of
a few surgeons around the country performing Arthroscopic Thumb (CMC) Arthroplasty.

Steven M. Page, MD specializes in treatment of sports related injuries and performs many knee and shoulder surgeries, including AC L Reconstructions, meniscus repairs, and shoulder instability surgery. He is also very experienced in non-surgical treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries.
Dr. Page received his Doctor of Medicine from The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in June 1999. He completed a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Miami, and as Team Physician cared for numerous athletes from the Miami Hurricanes, Miami Dolphins, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Dr. Page is
currently the team physician for Newsome and Riverview High School athletic programs and treats athletes of all sports and age levels. He is a Diplomate of the American
Board of Orthopedic Surgery (Board Certified) and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr Page has authored several publications dealing with sports related hand injuries.

Larry Hagaman, PA-C has been an important part of our medical team since 1996. He was born and raised in Middletown, Ohio. He graduated from Miami University Oxford and joined the Air Force to see the world. During his 20-year career with the Air Force he was stationed in Texas, Illinois, Colorado, California, Florida and Germany. He received his Physician Assistant degree from Oklahoma University and Orthopedic Masters Degree in Sports Medicine
from Chapman University in California. He has been a practicing Physician Assistant since 1982 and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Academy of Orthopedic Physician Assistants. Mr. Hagaman has been an Orthopedic Physician Assistant in the Tampa Bay area since 1990.

Jacqueline Hermenitt,
PA-C was born and raised in Plainwell, Michigan. She attended Michigan State University, obtaining a Bachelor’s
Degree in Human Biology. She attended MCP Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and obtained a Masters Degree in Health Science as well as Physician
Assistant Studies, graduating in 2004. She was nominated to Biltmore Who’s Who in 2006 and 2007.
Jackie enjoys playing golf, horse back riding, boating and gardening as well as traveling. She is currently on the Missions and Outreach Committee with her church. She is a supporting member for Missions of outreach currently promoting project HOPE. This program is designed for persons in need in the Brandon area, providing meals, toiletries, counseling, healthcare and networking resources for job placement and housing. Jackie has been a member of the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physicians Assistants since 2004.

Dana M. Hess, PA-C has recently joined the staff at Brandon Orthopedic Associates. Dana is a native of the Tampa Bay area. She attended the University of Florida, where she received a Bachelors degree in Psychology in 2006. She returned to the University of Florida’s College of Medicine and obtained a Masters degree in Physician Assistant studies, graduating in 2009.
Dana is an avid sports fan and enjoys running, traveling, and being out on the water. She is a member of Junior League Tampa, which is an organization
of women committed to promoting volunteerism and improving communities through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. She is also a member of Florida Academy of Physician Assistants.
